Edwards Clegg is a specialist property law firm advising clients on all aspects of commercial and residential property law. The Firm was established in 1988 and uses its years of experience to provide clients with clear and practical advice.

We advise commercial and private clients on transactional property matters, ranging from development sites, investment properties, warehouses, shops and offices to residential sales and purchases. Instructions are dealt with by senior members of the Firm; a feature which gives our clients access to decades of combined experience and an exceptional level of client care.

A specialist in commercial property, Philippa qualified in 2005, spending 10 years at Top 100 Law Firm Freeths in their Real Estate team before joining the Firm. Philippa is recognised for her thorough approach to transactions and efficient service. She is now the Principal of Edwards Clegg.

Jeff has been practising as a solicitor since 1976, founding the Firm in 1988. He is highly regarded for his knowledge and expertise in commercial property and planning matters. Jeff’s clients value his pragmatic and commercial advice.

Niki Guthrie

Solicitor, BA(Hons), PgDL

Coming to law after working in the construction industry, Niki is passionate about buildings and land. Commencing her legal career in Derby in 1999, she spent 16 years at top tier firm Freeths establishing a track record in real estate law, mixed use development, Landlord and Tenant work, affordable housing schemes and secured lending. Niki has a particular interest in land acquisition for residential development. Clients rate her collaborative and personable manner, sound business acumen and attention to detail.

Mandy Smith

Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives

Mandy started working in conveyancing in the 1980’s and obtained her fellowship from the Institute of the Chartered Legal Executives in 1999. She specialises in all aspects of residential conveyancing including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, transfers, unregistered conveyancing, transfers of part, legal charges and non-standard conveyancing matters such as deeds of release and grants of easements. Mandy provides an individual service which together with her depth of experience marks her out as an exceptional conveyancer.

Debbie Knowles

Debbie is the Secretary to the Partners in the commercial property team. She has many years of secretarial and legal experience and has been with the Firm since 2012. As well as secretarial and administrative support, Debbie assists with front of house and is an invaluable member of the team.

Amanda is the Secretary to Mandy Smith in the residential property team and has been with Edwards Clegg since 1999. With a wealth of experience in residential property, she supports clients through the process of moving house. Amanda is professional and hardworking and a great asset to the Firm.

Danielle Marshall

Solicitor, LLB (Hons)

Danielle qualified at Nelsons in July 2024 into their Real Estate Team before joining the Firm. Danielle kickstarted her career as a paralegal dealing with utilities and has over six years’ experience dealing with both commercial and residential transactions.
